DREAMS

But the godly will flourish like palm trees
and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house.
They flourish in the courts of our God.
Even in old age they will still produce fruit;
they will remain vital and green.
They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock!
There is no evil in him!”
Psalm 92:12-15

I visited a friend last night that I have known for 30 plus years. Ever since I’ve known her, Miss Betty has been a Children’s Minister. Actually, a more appropriate title would be a Children’s Evangelist. I don’t know the story of how she got started. (I should have asked.) But I do know that for years and years she has gone into the highways and byways, the churches and neighborhoods teaching children and preaching salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. She has done battle in the spirit for the souls of the precious children that no one else seemed to care about. And she has succeeded! Many have come to know the Lord through her ministry and are serving him now as adults.

But now Miss Betty is fighting a new and different battle. She is fighting a demon that strikes fear into hearts just by the mention of his name…Cancer! But she is completely at peace and undaunted. She said, “I have many more years of ministry ahead. God is not finished with me yet. I still have unfulfilled dreams that He has planted in my heart. I will live and not die and declare the works of the Lord!”

I love Miss Betty’s attitude! I’m not fighting cancer, but I have had setbacks in my life that have kept me from fulfilling all of my dreams and aspirations. Can you relate? Like me, do you have dreams yet to be fulfilled? I will shortly have 70 years of experience on this earth and yet I have many more things that I want to accomplish. Am I too old? Is it too late? No!!! It’s not over ’til it’s over and it’s not over yet! Just like Miss Betty, I won’t give up on my dreams. I’m not down for the count and I’m not throwing in the towel! I have more wisdom, understanding, will power and confidence than I had when I was in my twenties, thirties, forties or even fifties. I can still fulfill my dreams and so can you! You’re not too old…and you’re not too young either! Don’t ever give up on your dreams because if you do, who else will fulfill them. Only YOU can accomplish YOUR dreams. Only YOU can fulfill YOUR destiny. So whether you’re 20ish or 70 something…go for it! Start now by formulating a plan and taking one step at a time. If you’re young, you can take your time and review your options carefully. If you are older, like me, you may have to accelerate a little. But start! If you don’t start, you’ll never finish and you certainly won’t have the outcome you desire.

Have you ever heard the saying, “Put your money where your mouth is?” I would like to coin a new phrase…“Put your faith where your mouth is!” Like Miss Betty, speak faith into your situation. Infuse your dreams with faith-filled words! I can think of a verse right now that you can “use to infuse”. (Sorry, I just couldn’t resist!) “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” Philippians 4:13 AMP

Wow! What a promise! Don’t you love it?! If we trust Him, Christ will infuse strength into us and into our dreams. Memorize this verse. Claim its promise in your own life. And whether you’re young or old…fulfill your dreams and determine your destiny starting today!
